The Nido de Cóndores Trek is one of the most spectacular mountain experiences in Bolivia. This two-day adventure brings you closer to the heart of Illimani, the most iconic peak of the Cordillera Real and the legendary Achachila, a sacred mountain spirit that, according to Andean cosmology, protects and watches over the city of La Paz.
The trek begins from Illimani Base Camp, crossing stunning high-altitude landscapes, Andean grasslands, glacial moraines, and breathtaking natural viewpoints. From there, the trail continues to Nido de Cóndores (approx. 5,550 m / 18,208 ft), the historic high camp used by mountaineers on their way to the summit.
Perched on a rocky ridge beneath towering ice walls and hanging glaciers, Nido de Cóndores offers some of the finest mountain scenery in the entire Cordillera Real. From this privileged location, trekkers can witness unforgettable sunrises illuminating the snow-covered peaks, admire the deep Andean valleys below, and, on clear days, enjoy sweeping views across the vast Bolivian Altiplano.
This trek is ideal for travelers seeking an authentic high-mountain experience without the need for technical climbing skills. Combining adventure, nature, Andean culture, and some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Andes, it provides an unforgettable journey for mountain lovers, photographers, and explorers alike.
Ideal ForHikers with good physical fitness and mountain enthusiasts looking for a unique high-altitude experience in the presence of the majestic Illimani.

Technical Level: Non-technical
Physical Demand: High (due to altitude)
Experience Required: Good fitness and prior acclimatization recommended; no climbing experience needed.
