This 2-day trekking circuit in the heart of the Cordillera Real is a perfect experience for those looking to combine high-mountain landscapes, adventure, and a rewarding yet accessible summit.
The route begins in Rinconada and traverses a spectacular environment dominated by the Altiplano, distant glaciers, and glacial lakes such as Jurikota and Chiarkota, crossing high passes and less-traveled trails. The highlight is the ascent to Pico Austria (5,350 m), one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Andes, offering panoramic views over the entire Condoriri massif.

Departure from the city of La Paz in private transport towards Condoriri, arriving at La Rinconada, the starting point of our trek.
Once we organize our gear, we begin hiking along a wide trail, steadily gaining altitude until reaching a pass at approximately 4,900 m, where the first views of the Condoriri massif unfold. From here, we descend into the next valley, where the impressive landscape of Laguna Jurikota opens up before us.
The hike takes approximately 3 hours, allowing for gradual acclimatization while enjoying the surrounding mountain scenery.
Upon arrival, we set up camp by the lake, followed by a hot dinner and rest.
After breakfast, we prepare our backpacks and begin hiking along the shores of Laguna Jurikota, enjoying its intense colors and the reflection of the surrounding mountains.
We continue towards Laguna Eslovenia, from where the terrain becomes steeper as we progressively ascend to the Paso Pico Austria. From there, we make the final ascent to the summit of Pico Austria (5,350 m), where we are rewarded with spectacular 360° panoramic views over the Cordillera Real.
After enjoying the summit and the landscape, we begin our descent towards the beautiful Laguna Chiarkota, surrounded by impressive glaciated peaks.
Finally, we continue descending to La Rinconada, where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to the city of La Paz.
