The mountain which once wanted to be the highest one!

Mururata a snow capped mountain which belongs to the Royal Range of Bolivia, 40 km from La Paz. It is characterized by its summit which happens to be an 8 km long by 2 km wide plateau, it’s next to Illimani mountain.

DAY 1.

We pick you up from your hotel in La Paz and go on transportation towards San Francisco mine, we take a detour along a road not widely used to the trek starting point, it is going to take us 3 hours approximately. The road is very rough and it may be necessary to walk from about 4200m where it crosses the river, and begin our trekking up to the glacier foothills at 4600 m.a.s.l. (2 hours approximately ) where we set up camp for the night.

DAY 2.

After breakfast around 1 am, we begin the ascent to reach the summit of Mururata (7 - 8 hours) up there we would be able to appreciate the cut mountain which once wanted to be the highest peak among the Royal Range, after admiring this beautiful summit, we descend to base camp around 3 hours, we eat a soup and pick up our camp and continue the descent to the road to reach our transportation and return to La Paz.
